Work From Home on the Computer

March 25th, 2010

You have probably heard of the many work from home computer jobs that have gotten popular over the last few years. If you are interested in working from home, you might wonder what jobs are available to you, and whether you need experience or a college degree to start such a career. Luckily, there are plenty of options out there available to anyone who has the desire and basic tools to start working from home using the computer.

One of the most popular ways to work from home on the computer is to join an affiliate marketing program. This is because you do not need a degree or experience to do this job. You might even be successful with no prior experience, but it definitely helps if you have been in sales or marketing before. In this job, you need to somehow persuade people to visit a company’s website and purchase a product. You will make a commission from each sale that you helped sell. In order to get people to the site in the first place, you often have to be creative. Marketing skills are definitely helpful here.

If you are not interested in marketing or sales, there are other options. If you do not mind data entry, there are plenty of companies that find this task tedious and would love to pay someone else to input their data into various computer programs. Again, this does not require a degree, although prior experience is helpful and will allow you to get more clients. If you are seeking experience when you first start out, you could initially start with lower prices than many people in the market. This way, companies that cannot afford a very experienced person are more likely to hire you. You could obviously increase your prices after you are more experienced.

In fact, the same general process goes for any other work from home on the computer job. Whether you choose to start a career dealing with writing, data entry, transcription, marketing, or any other skill, it is possible to make money without much experience. Keeping your prices below typical market value at first will help you obtain your first few customers, offering you the experience that is often needed to increase your prices. Once you have had a few steady clients and completed some large projects, you might think about making a website and even gaining a business license eventually. The possibilities are endless when you work from home, as you truly have control over your life and career.

Windows 7 a Review You Will Understand

January 20th, 2010

The big question is… should we embrace or avoid Windows 7? This is the question I am going examine in this entry and I hope that I will be able to help you make an informed choice about whether to adopt Windows 7.

After the nightmare experience so many people had with Windows Vista on it’s release; it is no surprise that people have been waiting for positive reviews before trying Windows 7. So let’s get cracking and have a look at three of the features of Windows 7 that have really impressed me.

1. Improved Speed over Windows Vista

One of the big problems experienced with Vista was the speed at which it performed; so this was one of the big challenges that the people at Microsoft had to address. They did this by redesigning how Windows 7 displays graphics to your monitor.

Windows 7 can not start to display things before all the background information is worked out. So you do not get that feeling that your computer is freezing. This change has reduced the wait time for applications to load, save and respond to users’ requests. How this was achieved is not important, what is however important is the fact that this feature really improves usability in Windows 7 over Windows Vista.

2. Home Networking & Media

It is no longer the case that people just use a network in the office, therefore Microsoft have really catered for the home network in Windows 7. The ease at which you can now share your files between computers in your network will surprise you. It is also so much easier to connect printers to your home network and also to connect to your home Wi-Fi connection.

There are loads of new features in Windows 7 to make it easier to share all your MP3s, Videos and TV shows throughout your house by using your home network in Windows 7. You can view music or recorded TV shows from remote computer and play them across the home network. If you want to watch a recorded TV show, you can easily transfer it to your laptop so that you can watch it on the laptop at another time.

3. Not So Many Annoying Pop-ups

One of the things that really annoyed me about Windows Vista was the fact that when I wanted to do anything with my computer I got a pop-up box asking me if I was sure I wanted to do it; also if an application was looking to do something we got the same pop-up. These constant pop-ups became really quite frustrating. In Windows 7, Microsoft have introduced a setting where you can adjust the settings to reduce or switch off these annoying little pop-up boxes.

My experiences with Windows 7 are all positive and I will be suggesting to my clients based in Dublin to consider installing Windows 7 on new PCs. If you would like to talk to someone in iPing about Windows 7 or your IT support in Dublin please drop us a LINE

Tackling Computer Worms That Reside on Your Network

January 2nd, 2010

Now if you have noticed your computer slowing down with some really mean things happening when you are trying to work its possible that you have been hit by computer worms. Almost every second computer in the world is infected with a computer virus worm. Many people don’t even know that they are infected till its two late.

You need to understand exactly what performance issues your computer has in order to determine that you do indeed have computer worms on your system. Many people seem to think that computer virus worms and other viruses are one in the same thing when in fact they are not. Many people even those who are pretty good at understanding computers are confused and find it hard to tell the difference when their system has been hit.

Computer worms and viruses are similar in a number of ways but they are also different. Their infection is different and they cause different problems. A computer worm is a program that is self replicating, and self propagating which is designed in a way to harm your and well as other’s computers on a network.

Now what self replicating means is that the program makes many copies of itself and then send themselves though the computer network to computers which are not protected.

Computer worms have the ability to work on their own and they don’t have to be linked to a particular program. A virus too is self replicating which is a similar characteristic to a computer worm. The difference is that a virus needs to be attached to a program or software or even a file in order for it to go live. On the other hand computer worms can spread on their own and don’t need to be associated with a program.

One of the biggest problems that computer worms cause is they wreak havoc with a computer network. Now because they are pretty much self propagating they spread like wild fire as they are able to find and get into unprotected computers on a network. They search for holes and get into a computer via that hole. So as a rule of thumb the more safe your network is the better protected you are from computer worms.

Viruses tend to get into files and corrupt them. They also infiltrate into computers posing as harmless files that when executed go live. This is why many people advise that you scan your email before you open them and never executive an Exe file without knowing who the sender is and what the program is supposed to do.

Now one of the best ways to prevent your computer getting infected by a worm is to protect your network. Get a good firewall software which will help you hold back programs that try to get in. You should also install a good anti virus program on your system that is regularly updated and which also can scan for computer worms as well as viruses.

The more you understand what these things are the better you can protect and defend yourself. So make sure that you use a good program and everything should be ok.
