Making Money From Your Home Computer May Be Easier Than You Think When You Learn From Someone Else

March 12th, 2010

I was recently asked to talk about making my first hundred dollars online. This was only in 2006, so the memory is still very fresh in my mind. I was sure I could make money on the internet because I saw that so many other people were doing it. I was determined to succeed and to be able to work from home or from wherever I had an internet connection.

The first thing I recommend, if you want to build your business on the internet, is to find someone who has already been successful in this area and to learn from what they are doing. Once I figured this out I was able to start making money by avoiding the mistakes that others had already made.

Spend some time every day looking at what people are writing about and selling on the internet. What will sell best for you is a digital product that is about something you are interested in or have personal knowledge about. For example, if you have arthritis, you can write or promote eBooks, audio recordings, and other information products that help people live with their arthritis.

Remember that you are a problem solver on the internet. What is it that keeps you awake at night? For me it was the fear of not having enough money to pay my bills every month. So my niche has become teaching people how to create their own products and how to promote affiliate products so they can make money while they sleep. There are so many ways to do this, that you could spend the next ten years exploring them all.

Be willing to read all you can about making money from home on your computer, and then take action. Start a blog, write some articles, and set up a one page web site. If you don’t know how to do these things, spend some time and just a small amount of money to learn how to do them. Making money online is easier than you might think, once you know how to do it.

Computer Virus Repair Help

March 9th, 2010

Viruses happen. They’ve been around for years and unfortunately that doesn’t look like changing. What happens when you need to do a computer virus repair?

Of course, you should be running up to date anti virus software at all times.

But occasionally a virus will still slip through – an update fails, the anti virus software company launch a new version that causes your current one to stop getting updates or you’ve just plain ignored the “you need to update” messages.

So what do you need to do when you need to perform a virus repair on your computer?

If you’re not already running an up to date virus removal program, install one now. Most of the programs around can cure most viruses for you when they detect that you’ve got a problem. If you’ve got a boot sector virus you may not be so lucky, but otherwise there’s a good chance that they can help.

Unplug your network and internet cables. Disconnect from your home wireless network before you cause any damage there.

Then run the anti virus program, following any virus disinfection prompts as they appear.

Once that’s been done, reconnect your internet connection and if necessary update your anti virus software with the latest virus signatures and then re-run the software.

With luck, you’ve now repaired any virus infection you may have had.

Next, make sure you keep it that way.

Get Windows Security Center to advise you when there problems with your virus repair software. If you’re running XP or Vista, you’ll find the Security Center in your Control Panel (or just search Help and it will point you in the right direction).

Check your virus repair software settings. Make sure that the virus signatures are regularly updated so that you keep any potential future infection safely out of harms way.

A Step-By-Step Guide to Setting Up a Wireless Network

March 1st, 2010

Wireless networks are getting more popular as more days go by. They are easy to install and practical to use when it comes to surfing the World Wide Web from anywhere inside the house. This is why wireless networks are attractive in the eyes of internet users. It is fairly easy to set up a wireless network; however, you have to know several simple things before trying to begin your setup. To get better understandings of wireless networks, you can read on protocols of wireless networking.

To set up your wireless network, you would require a broadband online connection with either a DSL modem or cable. Usually, the regular home setup involves a desktop computer that is directly plugged into a modem. If you are reading this, we can presume that you already own a laptop which you wish to wirelessly connect to a personal computer which has an internet connection. You will require some hardware to do this, such as a wireless router, a wireless USB network adapter for your desktop computer and a card-based personal computer network adapter for the laptop. Obviously, it would be recommended to opt for the same vendor as any extra hardware that you purchase. Refer to documentations that come with the hardware for any process of installation.

After installing all of the required hardware, you can start with the setup. First of all, you have to turn off or unplug your DSL modem before connecting your wireless router onto the modem. If you need help, simply check your hardware’s documentation. After this has been set up, your computer is going to connect to the router wirelessly. Next, you have to configure the wireless router. You can use Internet Explorer to go to the configuration page of your router.

The majority of default settings are safer to be left alone; however, there are several things that will need configuring. You have to choose a one-of-a-kind SSID or name for your wireless network, which will also be your network’s name. Ensure that nobody near you is making use of the exact same name. Next, if the router needs it, provide a one-of-a-kind passcode which it will put to use in order to generate several keys. The last thing to do before finishing your router configuration would be to set an administrative password. Pick a password which is long and hard to guess for security purposes. Ensure that you save each configured setting. Actual steps that are involved with setting configuration may vary, depending on your type of router.

Next, configure the network adapter of your laptop. It is quite easy to follow the on-screen instructions on Window’s XP when it comes to this. Right-click on the wireless network icon within your taskbar and go to “View Available Wireless Networks” after the menu appears. The window of Wireless Network Connections will show up. Here, you should see your chosen name listed for the wireless network. Click on “Refresh network list”, if the network does not appear. After that, you will be asked to enter a key as you have written down within the key boxes of Confirm network key. Choose Connect. Then, you will see the progress of your connection while it connects to the network. Once you are connected, feel free to close this window. Your wireless connection is now set up.
